    I had wondered about Aphrodite’s oceanic origins! It does make sense she would be associated with the sea given that.

    That’s a good point about Poseidon. He often strikes me as the Zeus of the sea, which is not necessarily the type of temperament to which you would trust the welfare of your ships.
